We have been learning about atoms, molecules and elements from the periodic table. The following information is regarding a recent experiment we completed in our classroom dealing with building crystals.

Borax Crystals Being Formed

Making borax crystals was really fun, and I hope to do them again! They form by getting really hot water, and it makes the borax powder get to a hard surface. It makes the borax go to the pipe cleaners and the cup. Megan

The cool thing was predicting what the outcome would look like or smell like.Aeron

Borax Crystals were so much fun because I did not know how they would work out. Hannah

I thought it would look soooo cool once it froze onto the pipe cleaners. Jack

I had no clue that borax crystals would be this much fun! Mine was in the shape of 2 hearts, so it turned out amazing!!! : ) McKenzie

Borax is mostly made of an element called Boron. Its atomic number is 5.

The borax crystals were the best experiment for me this year I hope Mrs.Truby will introduce this to the sixth grade teachers so we can do this again.Erin

They were so much fun!!!!!Connor

I really liked doing the borax crystals. There are also other kinds of crystals you can make such as a sugar crystal or a salt crystal. Taylor
